Grilled Avocado & Vegan Crab-less Salad Wrap

This Grilled Avocado & Vegan Crab-less Salad Wrap is toasty, rich and addictive. Grilling/toasting/searing wraps makes them so much more decadent and exciting. It’s fast, easy, and it adds only a small amount calories. For zero added calories you can skip the Earth Balance and use a non-stick pan. Simply put some ingredients into a tortilla, fold it up, and sear it in a pan. I now have a newfound appreciation for wraps in general!

This isn’t the first time I’ve been wowed by a food after I’ve seared it in a pan. I’m looking at you Pan-Seared Vegan Gnocchi With Brussels, Kale, Toasted Walnuts & Garlic Shake.

Tips

  • Make sure you go light on the fillings, you need to be able to fully close the wrap—or it gets real sloppy.
  • Sear the wrap seam side down first to help close it.
  • Be careful not to burn the wrap.

Lawry’s Seasoned Salt

I love this stuff on the crab-less salad, it adds nice flavor without adding straight up salt. A little goes a long way.

Crab-less Salad Shortcut

Use a small food processor to chop the onions and celery or chop them in same food processor you are processing the chickpeas and heart of palm in. Click here to make Oil-Free Flaked Crab-less Vegan Salad.

Subbing store-bought vegan mayo works

However, the crab-less salad likely won’t be oil free. Click here to make oil-free vegan mayo.

To make the entire wrap oil-free

Skip the earth balance and sear on a non-stick pan.

Bigger burrito-sized tortillas?

You will be able to fit more ingredients in the wrap, just make sure no ingredients are hanging out after you fold it up. You can do this with gluten-free, flour, regular or whole wheat tortillas. I don’t like the carb balance ones, but if you like ’em, use ’em.

Lay the tortilla flat. In the middle place the rainbow chard or lettuce leaf (if using). Then spoon 1/4 cup of Oil-Free Flaked Crab-less Vegan Salad and flatten it with a spoon or spatula.

Top with avocado slices, match-stick cut veggie and sprouts (if using).

Sprinkle with a little Lawry’s seasoned salt (a little goes a long way).

Adding Lawry's Seasoned Salt to Grilled Avocado & Vegan Crab-less Salad Wrap

Fold the top & bottom edges in about an inch or two.

Fold the sides so that they overlap, making a seam in the middle. Press down a little with your palm to flatten it a little. This will provide more surface area to sear. Before searing make sure the wrap is closed without any ingredients poking out.

pressed and folded tortilla

In a skillet or sauté pan melt 1 teaspoon of Earth Balance over medium heat. Place wrap in the pan, seam-side down and sear over medium heat for about 2 minutes.

Carefully flip the wrap and sear for two more minutes.

Remove wrap from pan and serve, cutting in half if desired.

Please be careful, wrap will be hot! Let it cool enough to handle comfortably. Enjoy! You may want to eat it seam-side up if it didn’t seal.

Um… yes to all of this. I friggen love grilled ‘cads. Great idea to put them in wrap – the contrast of the warm and creamy avocado against the crunchy tortilla and fresh veg sounds ah-mazing. Gonna’ have to try it this summer!
