Orange Ginger Tahini Sauce is fresh-forward with multi-dimensional flavors. I have had tahini sauces that tasted bitter because tahini is kind of bitter. However, the fresh-squeezed orange juice balances out any bitterness. Sure—depending on who you eat with there might still be bitterness at your table, it just doesn't have anything to do with this sauce.
Place all sauce ingredients into a small food processor or blender. Process or blend until smooth.
Chill if desired. This sauce will get thicker and turn bright yellow after being in the fridge overnight. I like to make it ahead and use it cold. It's also delicious at room temp, right out of the food processor.
The dark toasted sesame oil in this sauce adds lovely toasty notes. If you are using toasted tahini, you'll get even more toasty notes.
A little sweet?
I like to add a touch of sweetness to this sauce. It doesn't need it. That little bit of sweetness gives me a nostalgic Orange-Julius-from-the-mall flavor without making it overly sweet. If you want this even sweeter, then keep adding sweetness to taste.
